Allow me to share with you some important truths that are essential to your internet success (and possibly to your mental well-being!).
Don't go chasing every internet marketing rabbit trail.
The internet is literally so big, and there are so many marketers trying to make a quick buck from YOU, that you could spend ALL day, every day just chasing illusions of internet riches.

One Red Paper Clip, Sasquatch and a Microwave.

In a world where reality television is top billing and virtual hotspots like YouTube, Facebook and Myspace dominate what precious time we do have, it came as no surprise when I "stumbled upon" some crazed, internet lunatic willing to allow this "virtual" world to control his financial future!

On the heels of the triumphant return to civilization by the second season winner of CBS's "Amazing Race", Alex Boylan, from his 5 month trek across the globe paid for by, you guessed it, web surfers and their connections, comes a developing story out of the west coast of Florida involving a nearly broke, far past his prime old man, thirty days and a measly thousand dollars. Is he truly crazy? A dreamer, nut job, coo-coo for cocoa puffs, off the proverbial "deep end"? I'm not so sure.....I mean, think about it. Who would have ever "dreamed" that a REAL house, could be traded in the virtual world for something as miniscule and unassuming as "one red paper clip"! In July of 2006, this odd trading scheme became a reality as the genius who drew up the brilliant marketing plan, Kyle MacDonald, accomplished his goal in only 14 trades, and it took him just 12 month's. You gotta hand it to him. He was able to accomplish this WITHOUT getting "Golden Dome Mortgage Company" tattooed on his cheeks. Ya, the ones on his face you morons or I would have called it "Full Moon Mortgage Services"

He didn't sell an old, crusty piece of toast with a burn mark resembling, say....Sasquatch chasing that guy who put shaving cream on his face, nor did he try to pass off the natural crud build up on his bathroom mirror as an apparition of Elvis, come back to warn him that frying peanut butter and banana sandwiches in pure bacon fat is not such a good idea. No, Kyle MacDonald and Alex boylan did these amazing things in a completely acceptable, normal way....I guess...

So, does it sound all that far fetched that a 65 year old man who should be collecting social Security checks due to physical ailments and of course, his obvious lack of common sense, plans to turn that $1,000 into one million dollars for himself, in only twelve month's? In the microwave generation that we now live in, is it possible to put your nest egg in the virtual food zapper, dial up the 30 second express cook button, and presto, out pops a cool million bucks? Why not? Who would dare tell him it CAN"T be done after having your memory refreshed regarding some of these older tales, and even one that just came to a close a few weeks ago! Alex Boylan is planning a sequel already, with a female doing the trekking this time! What's next for him? Dikembe Mutombo and Pedro, travelling the world on a tandem bicycle, wearing only sumo wrestler type loin cloths? That would probably work....but is it really necessary?

In a bold statement, this man who is calling himself "Garth Trader", is going to take his last $1,000 cash, open up an online brokerage account and then promptly turn it over to you, his virtual investment advisors. Why the heck not? Can the amateur crowd out here in cyber space do any worse than the average retirement planner? I dare say, given the opportunity, they would do far better, as the massive amount of raw data that would be broken down and analyzed by the internet community, could never be duplicated by one man alone in his entire lifetime, let alone every thirty days. You heard right, every thirty days. You see, for his impossibly wacky plan to work, the initial investment of $1,000 must, at a minimum, DOUBLE every single month in order to end up at two million dollars at the end of a year. No, that's NOT a typo. Do the math. He shows you on his blog and his website. I hear you! "But you said he wanted to make a million dollars, not two million!" That's absolutely right, and that is what is so intriguing about this entire thing. Not only can this man not spell, but he is also very, very bad at simple math.....Well, not really. What he says is, he wants to turn it in to a million dollars for HIMSELF. He has some strange plans for the other one million dollars, and they include YOU! Yep, his plan is to split his earnings right down the middle with one lucky, or in this case, one very savvy websurfer!

Now, you would think that this alone would attract some attention, and maybe even enough "crazy, zaney, off the wall" characters to actually pull it off. But stick around. It get's even better! One of the stipulations is this. Rather than go ahead and use the traditional, safe "invest and wait" method, he realizes that to have even the slightest chance of success, his "cyber advisors" will have to take some major risks, and that means moving the entire portfolio in to a completely different investment vehicle every thirty days. How ccrrrraaazzzzyyyy is that! How else do you expect him to pay out the ten percent every month to the "advisor" whose idea was put in to practice during that period? You read that correctly. Sure, that might only be around $200 bucks the first month, but if you look at what it COULD be if he acheives just his "double every month" goal, at month 6 that number jumps to $6,400. Month 12, you ask? Will there be a monthly reward as well as the promised yearly payout? Yes. That months 10% payout would be around $200,000!!! Think he just might have a shot now?

Considered today as one of the best and easiest ways to earn money online, affiliate marketing is now attracting many people to represent themselves in this type of business. But, as competition is getting a bit tougher, you may need some ways to distinguish yourself from the rest of the affiliate marketers. The major reason for this is that many of your competitors are promoting the exact same program, in the exact same zone or on the exact same websites as you. Now, here are some tips that you may consider in order to stay in this business and have the chance to outwit and outplay your competitors.

The first thing is to have your own website.
It is very essential for you to have your own website when considering affiliate marketing as your professional career. Potential customers primarily go to websites in order to search and sometimes purchase items they were looking for. For the same reason, it is much easier to
remember than a URL you may be using, and you can just point your visitors to the affiliate page in your website.

Another thing to remember is to have your own ad.
A lot of times affiliate marketers have published the same ad two or three times done by advertisers. In this case, you may email the owner of your affiliate program asking that you make your own ads. This way, people may not become immune to ads, because sometimes seeing the same ads over and over again, may just make your potential customers skip it all together. Besides, your primary purpose is to attract or encourage people to click and read your ads and be curios enough to click through your website.

Step three, have some products of your own which are only available through your website.
Once you have your website going, it is important to have some products or services that your customers can't find with other affiliate sites. You want your customers to keep coming to your site and the best way to do that is to have something on your site that they can't find on others. Being an affiliate marketer, we must then choose a certain market segment, or niche, where you can have potential leadership, or at least a strong challenger role.

The fourth step is to build a strong relationship with people who already buy your product.
Now, in order for you as the marketer to fully answer the query of your potential customers, it is best to try the product yourself. With this particular notion, you can better sell the product that you are trying to market. You can share to your potential customers what a great experience you had with the product, and this can make them interested enough to buy the product. You may also be able to provide support if necessary or you may provide a confident tutorial or steps on how to use the product that you are trying to market based on your personal
experience. Entailing this idea is to be totally honest about the product that you are trying to market. If you find out that the program you were promoting is a scam, stop promoting it and inform your readers about it. This will help you build credibility with your lists. We all make mistakes and admitting your mistake will boost your reader's confidence in you. Lastly, don't try to market everything you see. With services such as Clickbank, it is easy to become overwhelmed and try to market everything in the Clickbank marketplace. That is not a good idea. It's better to focus on one market, and market products that they would want. This is called niche marketing. Try also to promote a certain product, which conforms to the specifications measured through indications of customer satisfaction, rather than indicators of self gratification. It is the customer who decides what to buy and not the company or the affiliate marketer. The company simply produces products catering to the needs and wants of their chosen market segment.

Today, different types of business are emerging from all over the world in a multinational level to reign supreme on their specific market segment that they are trying to dominate, and affiliate marketing is one of them. Affiliate marketing is definitely here to stay and it can become a great way to earn extra or even part time income. However, it won't happen overnight.
